I need some help on locating where exactly the light bulbs that shine on my license plate are and changing them. Where would i purchase the bulbs? how do i install the new ones?Does anybody know how to change the light bulb(s) that go to the licence plate on a '99 chevy tracker?You can find the unit that holds the light bulbs right above your license plate. They are usually just held in there with 2 screws, flathead or philips head. What you want to do is remove the screws and pull it out, it should be pretty self explanatory on how to take it apart. The bulbs usually twist out by turning in a clockwise or counter clockwise motion.
you can find the tiny bulbs at pretty much any automotive store, you just plug them in and then twist them back in. Try turning on your headlights prior to installing the unit to see if the bulb works. If they still do not work, check the connector to see if there is anything in it or all wet, and you might also want to check your fuse panel to make sure it's not just a bad fuse.
